Alexandre, a French concert pianist and conductor from Marseille, entered the legendary Deutsche Grammophon studio in Berlin in February to record interpretations of Bach and Ravel.
It took a few hours for the sound engineer present to set up the proper tapes, and in that interval of waiting, the engineer left the microphones on. And so Alexandre began to play - and play - so much so that he lost all sense of time and space, poured forth music as if in a trance.
The sound engineer, Julian H. managed to capture most of this reverie, transmitted from Alexandre's fingertips through the keys of a 1964 Steinway D - a composition that was not composed, an eruption born of 30 Years of Classical study, interpretation - of listening. This album is that singular outburst - a 10 - track paroxysm that nevertheless maintains a Zen - like peace - that preserves the musical moment when, for Alexandre, everything changed.
